About Me

Longtime nerd/geek/otaku- I dressed as a Batman character for Halloween 3 years in a row (only stopping bc the costume no longer fit) until about 2nd grade. Besides Pokemon/Hamtaro/Sailor Moon/Dragon Ball (which I didn't recognize as anime then), I remember my first anime (where I knew it was from Japan, and was distinctly different than other animated shows) was Inuyasha in about 2003. Fruits Basket was the first anime I watched online, actively seeking out new anime to try. Watching whatever I could- whatever was on youtube in multiple parts, or whatever random DVD my local video rental store had.

All this to say, nerdy/geeky stuff is so important to me. I can trace so many things I tried in life to fandom. I discovered a classical novel because my favorite character was reading it in the background in a throwaway scene (Beneath the Wheel by Hesse). I discovered bands because a mangaka mentioned it in an author's note- and more music discovered through AMV's. I'm so thankful to have discovered so many things that make me happy, bring me joy, inspire me- all through little bites of fiction. I suppose this site is a fansite in the sense that it's little snapshots of all the things I'm a fan of- of being a fan in general, rather than dedicated to one specific fandom.
